	   ALVA, Okla. (AP) _ Northwestern Oklahoma State will not play its

scheduled NAIA quarterfinal game at top-ranked Carroll College on

Saturday after discovering that three players were academically

ineligible. Carroll athletics director Bruce Parker says the Saints

win by forfeit and move on to the semifinals. The NAIA made that

official with an announcement Tuesday.

	   

	   HELENA, Mont. (AP) _ University of Montana junior Marc Mariani

has received first team all-Big Sky Conference honors as a wide

receiver and as a return specialist. Griz offensive guard Colin Dow

was honored along with safety Colt Anderson. Montana State had

offensive tackle Lou Saucedo, running back Demetrius Crawford and

safety Kevin Retoriano receive first-team honors.

	   

	   BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) _ University of Oregon receiver Elvis Akpla

has signed a letter of intent to play football at Montana State.

Coach Rob Ash says Akpla will transfer to MSU in January as a

sophomore. He is the third Oregon football player to transfer to

Montana State in the past six months, joining quarterback Cody

Kempt and defensive end John Laidet.

	   

	   OREM, Utah _ Ryan Toolson scored a game-high 38 points to lead

Utah Valley State to an 82-75 win over Montana. The Wolverines led

41-36 at halftime. The Grizzlies cut the lead to two midway through

the second half, but came no closer as Toolson scored 22 of his

points after the break. Anthony Johnson led Montana with 19 points.
