The Polson Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Flathead Fest-of-All Cover Art Contest. The Flathead Fest-of-All is a three-day celebration of Montana art, architecture, music and food taking place in multiple venues Sept. 14-16. The contest is open to all Montana artists and up to three individual pieces of work may be submitted by each artist. Submissions will be judged based on quality, originality and representation of a "Montana-style" celebration. Entries must be postmarked by Monday, May 14th. The Western Medical Clinic Relay for Life Team needs to raise money for the 10th Annual Lake County Relay for Life, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, June 9th & 10th. They are currently selling raffle tickets for two amazing items, a beautiful queen sized log bed frame made , a hand made quilt which is on display in the St. Jospeh Medical Center lobby. The St. Ignatius Schools will host the annual community showcase on Thursday, April 26th. All community members are cordially invited to attend. The evening will begin with a complimentary spaghetti feed from 5-6:30 pm in the Elementary School cafeteria. A wide variety of displays, activities and presentations from all curricular areas will run from 5-7:30 pm in various locations throughout the elementary, middle and high schools. The City of Kalispell and the Street Tree Commission are planning Arbor Day Celebrations on Friday, April 27th from 12:40-3:10 pm at Cornelius Hedges School in Kalispell. The Arbor Day will include the planting of two trees at Hedges School in Kalispell by its 3rd grade students. In addition, the City of Kalispell Parks department, with the assistance of the Montana Conservation Corp and a volunteer group, will be planting approximately 30 small trees in Lawrence Park. RSVP Volunteer Center will be distributing the "File of Life" in the St. Joseph Health Care booth at the Polson Trade Fair on Saturday, April 28th from 9 am - 4 pm. The "File of Life" is a means to record your name, emergency contacts, health problems, medications and other critical information needed in the event of an emergency. The Montana State Fund is making these available to those 60 and older.
