``SECRET TALENT OF THE STARS‘‘ - CLINT BLACK
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Clint Black killed ‘em last night. In a good
way. He wowed the judges with his stand-up comedy routine on the
new CBS reality series ``Secret Talent of the Stars.‘‘ He looked
calm and in control as he rolled off two minutes worth of jokes.
One was about his marriage. He said the key to a good marriage is
communication and doing as little of it as possible. His wife Lisa
Hartman Black was in the audience. He also joked that he always
wears his black hat because it makes his head look thinner. Judge
actress Debbie Reynolds said his timing was wonderful and then
gushed ``you‘re so cute.‘‘ Singer Brian McKnight said he felt like
he was watching a real comedian. He said Black looked like a
natural. Other contestants on the show included Star Trek actor
George Takei (tuh-KAY‘), who performed as a country western singer
and Olympic figure skater Sasha Cohen who did a contortionist
routine. Debbie Reynolds joked that if she only knew some of those
moves, she would have been able to save her second marriage. Black
got enough votes last night to advance to the semi-final round, as
did Cohen. Takei and singer Mya were sent home.

``SECRET TALENTS OF THE STARS‘‘ - MONTGOMERY GENTRY
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ Country music school is in session and
Montgomery Gentry is heading up the class. The duo have lent their
talents to the new CBS celebrity talent show ``Secret Talent of The
Stars.‘‘ They signed on to coach former ``Star Trek‘‘ star, George
Takei (tuh-KAY‘), as he prepared for his country crooning debut
last night. Eddie Montgomery was thrilled with the coaching
assignment. He said ``how cool to be rockin‘ with Mr. Sulu. I‘m
such a Trekkie.‘‘ The CBS show lets celebrities fulfill their
dreams. Unfortunately, for Takei he didn‘t get enough viewer votes
to continue on with the show.

``AMERICAN IDOL‘‘
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ All around rave reviews from the judges for
Kristy Lee Cook last night on ``American Idol.‘‘ Simon said
``Tonight you look like a star.‘‘ The theme was songs that inspire.
Cook chose Martina McBride‘s ``Anyway.‘‘ Randy said he ``loved‘‘
it. Paula said Cook outdid herself, adding ``This was your best by
far.‘‘ The other star of the night was Jason Castro‘s Hawaiian
infused rendition of ``Somewhere Over the Rainbow.‘‘ Randy called
it ``crazy, molten, hot.‘‘ Simon said it was ``fantastic.‘‘ The
judges were underwhelmed by David Cook and Carly Smithson. Randy
said Cook‘s performance ``fell short.‘‘ Simon said it was weak. The
trio were also critical of Smithson, saying they didn‘t feel a
connection to her performance. And Syesha Mercado‘s choice of
Fantasia‘s song ``I believe,‘‘ drew mixed reviews. Randy said it
was ``OK,‘‘ while Paula said ``hands down this was one of your more
shining nights.‘‘ The next Idol contestant gets the boot on
Thursday‘s result show.

``DANCING WITH THE STARS‘‘ - PRISCILLA PRESLEY SAFE
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ A close call for Priscilla Presley on
``Dancing with the Stars.‘‘ She landed in the bottom two with Adam
Carolla last night. But after some tense moments Presley was spared
and Carolla was sent home. He said he had the time of his life and
to boot lost 20 pounds. Presley was docked some points on her
performance Tuesday because she did a lift during her Viennese
Waltz, which is a no-no. But she‘s safe to hit the dance floor
another week after making the cut on last night‘s results show.
Sheryl Crow performed on the show last night. She sang ``Out of Our
Heads‘‘ and ``All I Wanna Do.‘‘
