^Folk fest funding passes halfway point<

     HELENA, Mont. (AP) _ The National Folk Festival comes to Butte
this summer, and organizers hope attendance will hit six figures.

     Fundraisers are working to raise 1.2 million dollars to cover
expenses; and they‘ve already collected almost $675,000.

     The three-day outdoor event will be held in Butte for the next
three summers, starting July 11th. It‘ll be the first time in 40
years that the national festival will be held west of the
Mississippi River.

     The fundraising committee is soliciting money to pay for several
segments of the event, including stages, marketplaces and
individual artists.
