CAPITOL HILL (AP) _ Don‘t expect the top U.S. military commander
in Iraq to call for another troop buildup in Iraq, even if security
there deteriorates. General David Petraeus tells a House panel that
such a move would be a last resort because of the strain it would
place on the Army. Petraeus has recommended that 20-thousand surge
troops be withdrawn by the end of July.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ The Olympic torch is getting extremely
tight security, with protests expected at the only North American
stop on its journey to Beijing. Runners carrying the torch on a
six-mile route through San Francisco are expected to face people
protesting China‘s grip on Tibet. But supporters of China‘s role in
the Olympics have gathered as well.

DALLAS (AP) _ For a second straight day, American Airlines has
canceled hundreds of flights so it can inspect wiring on some of
its jets. The number of scrubbed flights today is 850 -- and that‘s
more than a third of American‘s schedule. The airline is putting
displaced passengers on other flights. Stranded travelers are being
offered meals, lodging and ground transportation.

CHICAGO (AP) _ Boeing is delaying the launch of its 787 jetliner
program again, to the third quarter of 2009. Its plan to assemble
the jets from components made mostly by other companies has run
into multiple snags and outsourcing problems.

WEST BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) _ No injuries have been
reported yet at a Michigan apartment complex that‘s the scene of a
smoky fire. Firefighters on ladders have been helping elderly
residents down from the upper floors.
