     BOBCAT PRACTICE

Bobcat football team finally gets outside for practice<
^

BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) _ Montana State football coach Rob Ash has
lowered his expectations of good practice conditions in his first
season of spring drills with the Bobcats.

The team practiced outside Wednesday, for the first time this
season.

Ash says the field was icy, a little sloppy and the temperature
was about 30 degrees, but, he says, ``it was awesome.‘‘ He says it
felt great to be outside.

Ash said his staff looks to accomplish two main things during
spring drills -- to look at some scheme ideas they‘ve developed
after playing a season in the Big Sky Conference and to evaluate
positions where they were hurt by graduation.

The Bobcats have four players competing for the quarterback
spot, including last year‘s third-stringer Jordan Rasmussen, junior
college transfer Mark Iddins, redshirt Willie Sullivan and Mark
Desin, who played receiver last year.

Ash says the Bobcats will try to practice this afternoon, and
again tomorrow and Sunday, if the weather cooperates.
