     FUZESY‘S RECORDS

Carroll‘s Fuzesy looks back on successful basketball career

HELENA, Mont. (AP) _ A little over four years ago, Jolene Fuzesy
went to Carroll College with the tag of ``pure shooter.‘‘

Two weeks ago, she completed her college career with a slight
change to that label, ``purest shooter.‘‘

Fuzesy went to Helena after prepping at Malta and Havre. She
finished her college career with 464 made 3-point field goals on
899 attempts.

Her career percentage of 51.6 is a record in NAIA and NCAA
basketball for men and women, moving her ahead of the previous mark
of 51.3 set by Scott Martin of NCAA Division II Rollins College.

Fuzesy told the Independent Record it‘s a ``great honor‘‘ to
hear people say her name with that record.

She fell just short of the all-time record for made 3-pointers
by a women‘s basketball player. Her 464 are just three off the
record set by Kiely Schork of NAIA Division I Loyola University
from 2003-2007. It should be noted, however, that Schork took 1,382
3-point shots in her career, 483 more than Fuzesy.

     CLUB‘S BIRTHDAY

Yellowstone Country Club celebrates 50th birthday

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) _ The private Yellowstone Country Club in
Billings turns 50 years old this year.

The club opened its 18 holes to golfers in 1958 and still ranks
as one of the state‘s best courses.

Bob Eames is starting his fourth years as the head pro at the
West End layout. He says the possibility of holding a celebration
will be discussed at a board meeting this week.

Golfers played for the first time on Yellowstone Country Club‘s
front holes on August 30th, 1958. The back nine opened a couple of
weeks later.

Eames is only the second club pro at YCC. The first one, Paul
Allen, spent 47 years on the job. At age 78, he‘s still a regular
on the course.
