     UNDATED (AP) _ San Antonio took sole possession of second place
in the NBA‘s Western Conference standings and closed to within a
game of first-place New Orleans without even taking the court. The
Hornets dropped a 77-66 decision to Utah and the Lakers remain a
game and a-half off the pace following a 112-103 loss to Portland.

     MILWAUKEE (AP) _ Brewers closer Eric Gagne (GAHN‘-yay) blew his
second save in three chances last night in Milwaukee‘s eventual
3-2, 10-inning victory over Cincinnati. Gagne, who signed a
one-year, 10-million-dollar contract this offseason, also blew a
save on opening day against the Cubs.

     TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ Tennessee beat Stanford 64-48 in the women‘s
NCAA final for its second straight NCAA women‘s basketball
championship. It‘s the Lady Vols‘ eighth crown overall.

     SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ Security is tight today in San Francisco,
where the Olympic torch is being paraded over a six-mile course in
its only North American stop en route to the Summer Games in
Beijing. The Olympic torch‘s 85,000-mile global journey is the
longest in Olympic history and has been a target for protesters
angered over China‘s human rights record.

     MINNEAPOLIS (AP) _ Former Minnesota Vikings great Carl Eller has
been arrested. A police spokesman tells a Minneapolis radio station
(WCCO-AM) the Pro Football Hall of Famer was involved in an
alcohol-related driving offense and assaulted a police officer in
north Minneapolis early today. Eller pleaded guilty to a charge of
driving under the influence in 2006.
