     BEIJING (AP) _ Baseball and softball got a chance to make their
pitch to be reinstated as Olympic sports today.

     Speaking in Beijing, before a room filled with International
Olympic Committee members, the international leaders of both gave
presentations to the Association of National Olympic Committees.

     Baseball and softball will be played at the Beijing Games this
summer but have been removed from the program for London in 2012.

     The first chance for reinstatement will come in October of 2009
at an IOC meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark. That‘s when the IOC will
decide on the program for the 2016 games.
